computing
INTENT
Through our Computing curriculum at Ravenfield, we aim to give our pupils the life-skills that will enable them to use technology in a socially responsible and safe way. Through teaching computing, we equip our children to participate in a rapidly changing world where work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. It is our intention to enable children to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing skills necessary for children to be able to use information in an effective way.
IMPLEMENTATION
Children will have gained key knowledge and skills in the three main areas of the computing curriculum:
- computer science
- information technology
- digital literacy.
We want children to become independent users of computing technologies, gaining confidence and enjoyment from their activities. We want the use of technology to support learning across the entire curriculum and to ensure that our curriculum is accessible to every child. Through our computer science lessons, we want them to develop creativity, resilience and problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
IMPACT
We want our pupils to have a varied experience to develop their understanding of themselves as individuals within their community but also as members of a wider global community and as responsible digital citizens.
